Who is Gerard Butler?

Phantom of the Opera ] The Tonight Show 04/14/05 ] The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson transcript ] SnogCORP ]

So, I watched this movie in February called "The Phantom of the Opera" which is the film adaptation of the world famous Broadway musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Hearing those first chords from the theme song covered me in goosebumps as I remembered the first time I saw the stage musical in high school (1990?). Also, what caught my complete attention was the portrayal of the Phantom in the film. I came away thinking, "Who was that guy?" Jumped onto the Internet to learn all I could and the rest is Gerry-obssessed-history. :)

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno
Thursday, April 14, 2005

My sister, Sylvia and I drove up to Burbank to watch a taping of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and to support our favorite actor, Gerard Butler.
(Read all about this story at the Leno story.)

This is Kayla's story

I got to talk to Gerry on the phone. It was really cool.

Gerry said, "Hello Kayla." I said, "Hi." Gerry goes, "I'm looking at your picture right now and you're beautiful." I go, "Thank you!"

Gerry, "Your welcome." " Um, I hope we could meet some time. I'd really love it a lot!"

I say, "I hope that can happen too." Gerry, "Okay then, bye Kayla." Me, "Bye Gerry."

The whole time he was talking to me, I was dancing in my room. I was and still am so happy and excited!

Again I say it was and still is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Dear Frankie" mini-convention in LA
March 5th

Kayla, Sylvia and I drove up to LA this past weekend to join some female fans and watch the latest movie by "Phantom of the Opera" star, Gerard Butler. His newest movie is amazing, called "Dear Frankie" which is on limited release in LA and NY this weekend.

We drove up on Saturday, visited the Fashion Institute of Design to look at the Oscar-nominated costumes of the past year. We headed to the Arclight Theater on Sunset to watch the movie, then headed over to Tom O'Shanters restaurant for some dinner.

You can watch a coming attractions trailer for this "sweet" movie or visit the official website for more details.

NO pictures allowed at the museum, but I had taken this one of Kayla by one of the chariots of Troy before I had to put the camera away.

The "Dear Frankie" poster at the theater. Kayla by the poster.

The marquee.

Me and Anna, before the movie.

Sylvia and Kayla, after the movie.

Some ladies, waiting at the restaurant.

Answering the questionnaire.

Hoping we win a prize!

Outside Tom O'Shanters, making a call....with a cell phone. :)

Gerry Butler media

Now, for anyone who saw Gerard Butler on Leno's Tonight Show this month, here's a story for you:
I was visiting the Science Center at the fair (where they have various displays for the kids to have fun with). Well, guess what they had there that I just HAD to try out? Yup, you've got it.... the wacky wire game! I had to play it...but forgot to get someone to take my picture. Don't know Gerry's "wacky wire" story? Watch the excerpt from the Tonight Show from 3/2/05 below.

Interview from the Beowulf website (for those who can't access the frame page)

1) Funny interview with Gerry, being his usual colorful self...(called "Butler in mud")

2) This one is "Gerry on Bus": about the role of Beowulf.

3) This last one is called "Gerry in Darkness" - apparently, they had some kind of power outage but that won't stop Gerry from talking! ;)

4) This one is called "Gerry talks about Geats": talks about his fellow Geats: Tony Curran, Rory McCann, Ronan Vibert and Martin Delaney.
