Geocaching

This looks like a lot of fun - Tech Treasure Hunting! I need a GPS device, or good map reading skills and a compass.
You see, it looks like there are lots of "caches" in the Imperial Valley. Here's how it works: someone hides a "cache" (inside it, a logbook and some sort of trinket), and they provide the waypoint (the longitude and latitude coordinates) on a web site www.geocaching.com
Then, you use your GPS device to go out and hunt for it. It's usually hidden in some kind of container (military or Rubbermaid). When you find it, you sign the logbook, take a trinket and leave a trinket (called TSLS - take something, leave something).
Caches in the Imperial Valley, but read carefully, because some of them have spoilers:

Geocaching in the news:
The thrill of the hunt from Palo Alto Weekly
Geocachers find hidden treasure with GPS from Pittsburghlive.com
Frugal Family Fun from Budget101.com
People all over the world do this. It looks like travelers from around the world (who are passing by on I-8 or 111) look for these caches in our valley!
Anyway, looks like fun. Know anyone with a handheld GPS??

Threadless
There is the great tshirt web site that I've been browsing for a few months called Threadless.com - they've got some really funny t-shirts for around $15 each.
I just ordered my first ones today:

and
Just click on the pictures and order your own. :)
I thought this one was cool but then thought "no, I don't." :) The last two years at the eye doctor I've realized that I can't see some of those color test designs anymore. :( LOL
These are two that I really liked but they are out of stock:

a million things to do
Funny thing is...when I'm driving home at night after work, I can think of a million things to write about here...but when I'm actually here in front of a computer, days will go by before I can think of something interesting to say. :)
Kay and I saw "Flightplan" on Friday night and "Millions" on Thursday night last week. "Flightplan" is good for an action packed whodunit and I recommend "Millions" for its sweetness, its Britishness, and its whatwouldIdo moments.

I joined a service club. A women's club. Me. Yup. Mrs. Anderson (from Calexico FUMC and mother of my big boss), whom I've been giving private computer lessons too, talked me into signing up for membership to the Calexico Woman's Improvement Club (I think I won a scholarship from them back in the day). I thought, sure, no biggie. A meeting once a month, sell some tickets, it'll look good on my resume. :)
I had fun on Saturday at the October luncheon with the "Tombstone" theme. Good food, of course. I have to comment on the pork ribs, pot roast, potatoes, biscuit and beans. :) I knew some of the ladies who are also members. I'm going to have fun, I think. :)
So, I'll be hitting up those of you around the area every once in a while for Ham Dinner tickets, Mall coupon day tickets, etc.
Watch out!!
The volleyball team won the first game versus Brawley's team, but lost the other two. Kay was very excited though about the first game. She scored a couple of points while serving. :) Great boost to her self-confidence. Next game this Friday versus Willie Moreno, cross town rivals.
Oh, yeah, I lost my memory stick. :( and I'm too cheap to buy another new one. So, I won't be taking as many pictures as I usually do...until my codo stops hurting.

Volleyball and Smallville
"Murderball" was such an awesome movie. It should get plenty of Oscar buzz come January.
Junior high has sure been keeping us busy. Kayla joined the volleyball team and had her first game last week versus Wilson Jr. high of EC. We lost, but I thought the team did a great job, considering that they had only been practicing for a week and most of them have never played before.
Next game is tomorrow versus Barbara Worth jr. high.
Doesn't she look fierce standing next to the net. I need to play with her on weekends, help her out. Her aunt wants to practice with her too. She's going to be one of those players that will strike fear in the other girl's hearts. ;)
I missed another one of my Bible study classes today. :( I've had such fun in the past, but it's been hard now that school has started again.
Here's an entry from my friend Kevin's blog: a great movie spoof link: You'll laugh, you'll cry.... . Disturbing, yet funny. :) I also found another funny Quicktime movie about Tom Cruise when he was on the Oprah show. (Clicking on the link starts the movie.)
Did anyone catch the season premiere of "Smallville" last week??
Amazing....but I didn't watch it until Sunday night. You see, I had just bought the Season 4 DVD set (because I had missed SO much of last season due to work and Bible study class) so it took a couple of weeks to watch them all. By last Thursday, I still needed about 6 episodes to go. So, I taped the season premiere but didn't watch it. When I had caught up, Kayla and I watched episode 1. Amazing!! More info about the show, actors, and spoilers to future episodes at Devoted to Smallville. Can't wait for the tomorrow's episode!
