Zoot Suit Riots
I had never known that I shared a surname with one of the main defendents in the "Sleepy Lagoon" incident, which was portrayed in the 1981 movie "Zoot Suit" starring Edward James Olmos.
I had been doing a search, seeing where my personal web page would turn up when I ran across the PBS article about the incident and ensuing riots.Zoot Suit Riots is a powerful film that explores the complicated racial tensions and the changing social and political landscape that led up to the explosion on LA's streets in the summer of 1943.
